ASA Championship Meet Information
Each year our league hosts a championship meet for the end of the summer season. It is also considered a qualifying event for the GRPA State Swim Meet which will be at Boundary Waters Aquatic Center on July 17 (prelims) and July 18 (finals). Below are details for the ASA meet on July 26 – some details will not be finalized until after this weekend as all teams in the league have to submit their entries before warmup times, team seating locations, volunteer slots…etc. are determined.
Swimmers – Swimmers who can competently complete 1 length of the pool unassisted, not grabbing on lane lines, nor touching the bottom of the pool (it is too deep to touch in a race).
When – June 26, 9:30am – 1:00pm (anticipate needing to leave Alpharetta/Milton around 7:00am in the morning on Friday – warmups can be as early as 8:00am). Swimmers are allowed to leave with their parents once they finish swimming their races. All relay races (medley and freestyle) will be swam at the beginning of the meet.
Where - Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center Aquatic Center, 750 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA
Seating – There is a girls’ pool (closest to the diving well) and a boys’ pool (closest to the Jumbo Tron and furthest away from the diving well. Parents can sit in the spectator areas – just make sure you sit on the correct side if you have only girls or only boys. The team seating area will not be determined until after this weekend.
Parking – if you are committed to going, get parking now. Follow this link and pay for the session ahead of time. It saves a lot of headaches and angst if you take care of parking ahead of time. GA Tech Parking Link
Cost - $30/swimmer. If you have to cancel out of this meet, a refund can only be made prior to Friday at 10am. Once the team submits entries, we are obligated to pay for all swimmers registered for this meet.
Volunteers – Our team will have a few positions to volunteer in for the ASA meet on June 26. Historically, we have been assigned Timing as a position. As soon as the lineup is finalized, and spots are assigned, Megan Melchiors will reach out to parents of kids going to ASA to fill our volunteer positions.
Concessions – Concessions will be open for this meet – they have been closed in the past.
State Qualifying Info – If your swimmer would like to use this swim meet to qualify for the State Swim Team, which will compete at Boundary Waters Aquatic Center on July 17 and 18, they will need to have a special designation on their name in Swimtopia. If you decide to have your swimmer try to qualify for the State Championship Meet, you need to let us know no later than Friday at 10am and which team will your swimmer participate with in this meet (Forsyth County or Johns Creek – see attached information flyers). **Special Note – Crooked Creek Swim Team has no responsibilities for the post-season team that goes to state, other than coding swimmers for the team they would like to be a part of for the state championship meet. The attached information forms will answer remaining questions or give contact information on who to ask about the state Swim Meet in July.
