    Meet #1

    Hi Parents,

Well, you have made it through the first few weeks of practice and now we have our very first swim meet tomorrow evening, June 1. Below are some last minute reminders/ details for the swim meet. I will do my best to keep this focused, but please read through until the end.

    Swim Meet #1 Details

The swim meet is at Crooked Creek tomorrow evening. Please arrive at the pool by 4:00pm. Warmups are at 4:30. There will be spots marked off for our Referee, Coaches, Team Reps and a few for Tennis – please be mindful and don’t park in those designated spots. The meet will begin at 5:30pm. We are swimming against White Columns and they are bringing a smaller group, so the meet should wrap up on the early side. For details on what to bring to a swim meet, go to https://ccsccrocs.swimtopia.com/swim-meet-tips - there is a detailed list of what to bring and expect.

How to read EHL on your swimmers’ arms.

At practices tomorrow, your swimmer will get their events written on their arms. You will see – E, H, L with various numbers on it. E is for Event, H is for Heat (if there are more than 6 swimmers in an event, there will be more than 1 head for that event) and L is for Lane. Use the following link to find out what EVENTS each number represents - https://ccsccrocs.swimtopia.com/swim-meet-tips

Concessions – We will have concessions, thank you to the Ramsey family for taking care of this. We will sell chick-fil-A sandwiches, pizza, soda/water, candy and various other snacks.

Volunteer Shifts – All volunteers report to Megan Melchiors by the splash pad no later than 5:00pm – even if you are in the 2nd shift. If you are a TIMER, RECORDER or PLACE JUDGE – report to the splash pad at 5:15pm for a meeting with the Referee. 1st shift is Event 1 – 43 and 2nd shift is Event 44 – 86. Please stay in your shift until you have been replaced if you are working the first shift/half of the meet. Megan and Amy will make sure you replacements will come.

Practices - Please remember that the focus of our coaches during practice is on your swimmers and making sure they are safe and improving on their skills. If you have a specific question, please wait to ask until the end of practice or send them an email at [email protected]. Also, feel free to contact me (Amy Beard) and I will be happy to help or to pass on your message. [email protected]

Fun Fridays – Our first Fun Friday will be this Friday, June 2, starting at 9am – please note the schedule below as it is different from the Monday – Thursday schedule. Fun Fridays will include donuts for the swimmers and they will play water games with the coaches. They can also pick up their ribbons from the meet.

    9:00 - 9:45am - 9/10's

    9:45 - 10:30 - 7/8

    10:30 - 11:00 - 6 and under

    11:00-11:45 - 11 and up

Swimtopia App – There’s an app for that… Swimtopia does have an app. Last summer I piloted it and paid for the monthly subscription - $2.99. It was worth it and very easy to cancel. I was able to keep track of what event the meet was on and know what my son was swimming the morning of the meet. If you choose to download it, use the same login as you do for Swimtopia on our website.

Remind – Text the following message: @ccsc23 to 81010. If you have NOT signed up for REMIND, please do so before the start of the meet – in case of a weather delay, this is how we will communicate with the team. Also, if we need to find a swimmer for an event or we need a last minute volunteer substitution, this is how we will get information out.

Clinics – Clinics for the month of June will be on Monday – Tuesday and Wednesday, June 5 – June 21 from 10:00-10:30. Please sign up using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44AFAD22A3FCC52-june

Picture Day – June 6Picture Day is TUESDAY next week. The flyer will be sent out after Thursday’s meet. Individual pictures start at 9am and then the team picture will follow afterwards. If you are not doing an individual picture, please arrive at the pool NO LATER than 9:30am for the team picture. We will have ice cream sandwiches after the team picture. There might be a change to the start time for the photographer – I will update the team when I can confirm the time.

Signup for June 8 meet closes this Saturday at 11:30pm – we are now on a cycle that as soon as the first meet happens, there will be another meet the next week. Signups for ALL swim meets (June 8, 15, 22, 27) are open and you can go ahead and declare your intentions for the remainder of the season. All swimmers must declare if they are swimming or not in the swimtopia platform. Signups for the June 8 meet close on Saturday at 11:30pm.

Spirit Wear – All swimmers receive a team shirt and swim cap. If your swimmer has not picked theirs up, you can find me at practices tomorrow beginning around 10am, as well as at the meet at the splash pad to pick up your items.

County Swim Meet – June 30 at Georgia Tech Aquatic Center – This is a fun way to conclude our season and let your swimmer experience competition at an Olympic Pool and see their names on the big screen. All of the teams in the league compete over the last week of the season. Details will follow in the next few weeks, but start thinking about it and talking about it with your swimmers.

Need some volunteer points: - I am looking for 3 to 4 volunteers to help me put together the end of season banquet. Duties will involve setting up the day of and cleaning up afterwards. All food, awards and gift purchases will already be made. If you are available to help before, during and/or after the banquet, please send me an email.

Thanks for reading all of the way through this email! Go Crocs!
