Season Starts TOMORROW!
Hi Parents and Swimmers,
Here we go for the season! The coaches are ready. The pool is ready and it's about to be summer! As we enter the last two weeks of school, we (myself and the coaches) realize that there will be times that your child can't make practices - that is ok. End of school and summer is a busy time. Summer Swim Team is more than just swimming, it's a chance to improve on swimming skills and meet new friends. Keep the coaches updated if your child can't make a swim meet, so they can plan accordingly.
Reminders/Information for 1st week of practice
1) Non-Residents - please enter the neighborhood through the front gate. All drivers must have a driver's license to be scanned in order to be admitted to the neighborhood. The guards know that swim team begins tomorrow. At practice, one of the coaches will have GREEN non-resident passes for you to display in your dashboard. This will help facilitate entering the neighborhood. Address: 14250 Creek Club Dr., Alpharetta 30004
2) Parent Meeting - Thursday, May 18 from 5:00-5:30 (between the 6U and 7/8 practices) and 6:30-7:00 (between the 9/10 and 11-18 practices) - there are 2 parent meetings. If you are new to the team or would like a quick review of swim team, volunteer information, meet information, stick around for those meetings by the pool entrance.
3) Volunteer Obligations - Megan Melchiors sent out a volunteer email to sign up for volunteering at our 5 swim meets. Each family is to volunteer for 5 different shifts throughout the summer season. Each shift is the equivalent to 1/2 of a swim meet and counts for 1 point of volunteer time. If you signed up for the team within the last 2 weeks and did not receive that email, reach out to [email protected] and we will make sure you get the necessary information.
4) Practices - 1st week - If you are new to swimming, please know that swim practices will look very different from swim lessons. It will seem that all your child does is swim from one end of the pool to the other, only to do it all over again! There is so much going on while your child is swimming. The coaches are making sure that everyone is safe in the water, they are assessing stroke quality and techniques and determining what they need to focus on at the next practice based on how the kids are swimming. Also, the coaches are working on building up the endurance of your swimmer, so that they can perform well at meets and be very confident in their swimming abilities. Their primary job is maintaining a safe swim area, followed by helping your child become a better swimmer. Please do not interrupt them during practice; they need to keep their focus on the kids. If at any time you have a question regarding practices, you can reach out to the coaches via email at [email protected] and they will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
5) Sponsor of the Week - Our team could not operate without the support of our business sponsors. Each week of the season, we will highlight a different sponsor in show of our appreciation for their support. Those will be sent in a separate email.
