Parent meeting follow up information... please read....Important info included.
Hello CROC families!
We are off to a great start with swim practice! We hope your children are having a great time getting used to the new routine. We realize these afternoon practices can be difficult to attend with all the other school activities. Soon we will switch to morning practices and be able to enjoy the slower pace of summer!
If you were unable to attend the parent meeting last night, you can find the information discussed attached to this email. There are a few follow up items that we would like to touch on as well:
- If you haven't already done so, please sign up for Remind by texting @gocrocs to 81010. This will be our main way to communicate last minute changes with practices or meets and any reminders for our swimmers. Please be sure to like us on Facebook as well.
- You can now download the SwimTopia app which will give you mobile access to our team's calendar of events, your volunteer assignments and your swimmer's times. We hope to have more information about how you can monitor your swimmer during the meets using this app too. Stay tuned...
- Coaches will be starting a "swimmer of the week" recognition this week. They will be talking to the kids in practice about this and will recognize 2 swimmers from each practice group each week that they feel are exhibiting the qualities of a great CROC swimmer in both practices and at meets (i.e. respect, listening, good sportsmanship, spirit, etc). Please ask your swimmers for more details and encourage them to participate.
- Time trials will be held next Monday 5/20 during regular practice times. Please make every effort to attend this practice and remind your swimmer to be on time and bring their goggles. This is nothing for your swimmer to prepare for, this is simply for the coaches to get a gauge of your swimmer's level. If you are unable to attend, please talk to Coach Matt or Coach Carolyn about when your child can arrange to be timed prior to our first meet.
Finally, please do your best to help our coaches by allowing them to focus on coaching during your child's practice time. Nobody except swimmers and coaches should be around the immediate edge of the pool during practices. Your swimmer is in very capable hands while in the pool and we want swimmers to be able to focus exclusively on the instructions from the coaches. If you have questions for the coaches, please wait until between practices to ask them, being mindful that they are busy getting another practice group started. You can always email Coach Matt ([email protected]) or Coach Carolyn ([email protected]) if you have questions for them.
We also ask that you keep an eye on your children when they are waiting for their practices to begin and after their practices have ended. We do not have lifeguards on duty during swim team and coaches are in the water with their focus being on the swimmers in the pool, so it is so important that parents keep an eye on those not swimming. As a reminder, the slide pool is CLOSED at all times during swim team. This includes the actual slide and wading in the shallow end of the slide pool. Please remind your kiddos of this rule often.
As always, feel free to contact us at [email protected] should you have any other questions.
Thanks and GO CROCS!!
